MORTO THE MAGICIAN

My very first, professional, animation job. I had just moved to Los Angeles from Chicago and got hired to work on a slate of animated shorts for Dreamworks Studios’ brand new, animation, web portal. It was the very early days of the Flash web animation hey day. It was supposed to be the very first ever streaming video service. Steve Martin wrote this dark comedy about a hapless magician and his unfortunate volunteers. Unfortunately, broadband internet was still ten years away. Dreamworks closed our little shop before the portal launched due to the fact that the entire country was still on dial-up, but it was a start and I will always feel fortunate to be part of the earlIest, early days of online video entertainment.
